Good vs. Bad Dentistry. Part 7. Eye-Hand Skill

Does your dentist play a musical instrument, do they paint or sculpt or build things in their spare time? Is your dentist a good athlete? Or is your dentist someone who might have difficulty screwing in a lightbulb at home?  This video on Good vs. Bad Dentistry. Part 7. Eye-Hand Skill was performed in our Smile Makeover office.

Hi this is Dr. Jeff Dorfman at The Center for Special Dentistry in New York talking about 12 ways people can differentiate good from bad dentists and good from bad dentistry. I’m sure it’s easier to consider watching a little league game, and you can see 8 or 10 year old little leaguers, and you can see some kids really can play the game, others really can’t. Dentistry is no different. You might have dentists who are in dental school and thereafter who might be intellectual peers, but some of them really have eye-hand skills, and some of them do not. You may have a dentist neighbor who you know is not capable of screwing a light bulb into their home light fixture. And then what would then make you think that person would have suddenly better hands in their office. Things that you want to consider when you are choosing a dentist, besides academic background, honesty, integrity, and things like that, is do they have hands? Do they play a musical instrument? Are they able to build things? Are they good athletes? If you find none of the above, then you should really question the eye-hand skill of the person who is taking care of you.
