Dental implants smile makeover for the lower jaw
Eight dental implants in the lower jaw with two porcelain-fused-to-metal bridges cemented on top. How to photos.
The first photo shows the patient wearing his lower partial denture and the second photo shows him with his lower denture removed; he only had four teeth remaining in his lower jaw and these were in poor health.
The third photo shows healing abutments on the dental implants and the fourth photo shows impression transfer copings in place.
Next the fifth photo shows the dental implant abutments on the lab model and the sixth photo shows the metal framework for the two porcelain-metal bridges.
Then the seventh photo shows the metal framework tried on the laboratory master model and the eighth photo shows one of the porcelain-metal bridges on the lab master model several weeks later.
Finally the last two photos show an occlusal and facial view of the final result. This case took nearly twelve months to complete; the upper jaw will be ready for teeth on one more month. The next CT scans are for this patient.
Dental implants smile makeover CT Scan
CT (CAT) scan planning dental implants for the upper and lower jaws, the maxilla and mandible. This shows the volume of bone into which the implants may be placed.
Moreover the absence of bone in the upper jaw will require a sinus lift (elevation) before placement of dental implants. The four remaining teeth in the lower jaw will be removed.

Dental implants cover screw removal and placement of a healing abutment
1) Dental implant in the lower first molar position with the cover screw in place. 2) Cover screw removed showing the female threading inside the first stage dental implant. 3) The healing abutment is screwed in place. 4) The healing abutment in place on the tooth implant.
Surgical isolation of a first stage dental implant and placement of a healing collar
Surgical isolation of a first stage dental implants in the upper premolar area and placement of a healing collar. Pictures 1) Initial oral surgery incision. 2) Identification of the dental implant cover screw. 3) Cover screw removal reveals the internal female threading of the first stage tooth implant. 4) Placement of the healing collar.
Dental implants surgery for the first stage dental implant in the lower first molar position
The abutment teeth have minimal restorations. 1) The pre-operative photo. The clinical exam revealed sufficient width and depth of alveolar bone for the placement of the tooth implant. 2) The Oral Surgeon made an osteotomy with a Sterioss bur with internal irrigation. 3) An x-ray taken to assure enough room between the apex of the tooth implant and the inferior alveolar nerve. 4) Sterioss bur in position. 5) – 6) Dental implant placed with carrier still attached. 7) Xray of the tooth implant confirming correct placement. 8) Primary closure of surgical site. Osseointegration will take approximately four months.

How to extract a baby tooth and place a dental implant
How to pictures and x-rays. Removal of a retained primary molar and placement of a dental implant. 1) Intraoral photo of the retained primary baby tooth molar in the second premolar position. 2) Radiograph of this tooth. Note that these retained primary teeth can remain in the mouth many years. This tooth was finally getting loose in this 37 year-old female. 3) Primary oral surgery closure after removal of the tooth and placement of the tooth implant. The dental implant was placed at the same time as the tooth extraction because the extracted tooth was not infected and its removal did not leave a void in bone.
4) Initial location of the first stage dental implant four months later. 5) Occlusal photo after removal of the healing screw at four months. 6) X-ray at four months. 7) Healing collar in place. 8) Xray of the dental implant with the healing collar in place.
Combination of dental implants
Three unilateral subperiosteal dental implants (two upper and one lower) that vary in age from 5-16 years, seven anterior implants (three upper and four lower) that vary in age from 3-11 years, and one lower posterior molar with a telescopic coping that has remained intact for 16 years. Subperiosteal dental implants work!
